Since 2005, ASTP's Survey and Metrics Committee have been gathering and crunching the data from knowledge transfer offices from across Europe with the aim to create a better understanding of KT resources and activities.
This year's report, drawn from the financial year 2021, uses data from 674 KTOs from 21 European countries. It includes 97 aggregated KTO datasets from one National Association and 577 datasets from responding KTOs. The collection and analysis of the data has been greatly supported by collaborating National Associations (NAs). The datasets originate from two kinds of sources: KTOs that participated in the FY2021 survey and data provided by NA running their own national surveys.
We see a consistent increase over the years in the total number of responses and demonstrates the increased appetite for detailed KT metrics and it's growing importance across Europe. The report looks deeply into: Industry Collaborations, IP Management and Commercialisation, and New Business Creation. The highlights of the data are illustrated in this graphic below.
