On October 22, the European Patent Office (EPO) will host an online event titled Patents and Innovation in European Universities, focused on driving innovation from university labs and exploring key trends across European countries.
The commercialisation of university intellectual assets is crucial to the future of Europe’s economy and its global competitiveness, as just described in the Mario Draghi report “The future of European competitiveness”. Understanding the ecosystems in which universities operate and identifying the best strategies for moving forward are essential.
The event will feature over 15 expert speakers from across Europe, including Josep M. Garrell, EUA President, Alexandr Hobza, Chief Economist at the European Commission, Reinhilde Veugelers, Professor at KU Leuven, ASTP Board member Fabrice Lefebvre and Olivier Gillieaux, Survey Committe among others. They will offer insights through panel discussions, workshops, and the presentation of a new study and tools developed by the EPO’s Observatory on Patents and Technology.
